Anyone fitted an ALDI Winch in D2 ARB bar?

    Hey,
Has anyone fitted one of the latest batch of ALDI winches into a D2 ARB bar?

I've mounted the main unit of mine and am planning to modify the fairlead mounting holes to allow it to fit properly too. Not sure how best to mount the control box etc though or what others have done to mount this type of winch to a D2 bar.

Anyone who has one fitted care to share how you've gone about fitting it, pics etc?

    Thanks,

    Al

I've fitted an Ironman winch in my D1. Some have said there are a similar winch. If so the Ironman has a wireless remote control so I extended the winch wires to fit the control box up under the bonnet out of the way where it is protected. Also gives better flow to the radiator by not mounting it in front. Even if it's not remote you could still put it under the bonnet, just have to pop the bonnet and run the cable out, or put a remote switch in the cabin.
    Cheers, David.

It is indeed remote so will certainly take a look at going that route, not too bothered about having to pop the bonnet before using the winch anyway considering how rarely it is (touch wood) likely to get used.

    Thanks.

    Smile value for money

    Hi all
Can anyone tell the forum if the ALDI winches are any good??. I see their a 9000lb winch but do they work when required. and how long is the cable I could not see it on the box. To me they seem to cheap but I guess it depends on who designed it and how good the motor and gearbox is ? any advice is appreciated

    cheers

You honestly have enough time to type a smart ass reply like that but not enough time to just answer a quick question honestly? Personally i don't think the attitude is really needed around here.

I mounted my control box above the winch in the big rectangular opening in the top of the bar (presumably what the opening is meant for).

To mount it, I made an aluminium bracket to fit to the two slotted holes above the fairlead. I happened to have some off-cuts that did the job perfectly. One was a piece of 117x22 C-channel and the other, a piece of 25x50 rhs. I won't describe how they fit together - I doubt it would make sense. If I get a chance I'll sketch it. Doesn't really matter what it is made from or how. As I said, mine is made of materials that I had lying aroung the shed.
