    Oil pressure

I'm looking at putting an oil pressure gauge on my TD5. Just wondering what sort of pressure these motors run? Just want to know what range sender and gauge I would need?

    Thanks in advance

    Pressure at idle (Cold) 3.0 bar (43.5 lbf.in 2 )
    Pressure at 3500 rev/min (Hot) 1.5-3.0 bar (21.75-43.5 lbf.in
    2 )
Relief valve opening pressure 4.0 bar (58 lbf.in
    2 )
Low oil pressure switch opening pressure 0.2-0.6 bar (3.0-8.8 lbf.in
    2 )

G'day mate, I would like to do the same. Where/what sort of sender sensor is required?
    Regards Robbo.

Mate I'm going to be using a VDO gauge that I had in my Rangie. I'm going to get an electronic sender to suit. I'm still trying to work out where I'm going to put it. Probably tee it off where the factory sensor is located when I find it.

I will post pics when I do it.

    use

The oil pressure switch is located in a port on the outlet side of the oil cooler housing. It detects when a safe operating
pressure has been reached during engine starting and initiates the illumination of a warning light in the instrument
pack if the pressure drops below a given value.

run a ''T'' piece out of the housing, it will be hard to find a fitting to suit, as the LR bosch sender stuff is metric thread fine and parrallell, and your vdo sender is most likley bspt or npt. i just had this issue when installing my fuel pressure gauge. see pic of the fitting.

the hydraulic ''T'' had 2 ends tapped out to M12x1.5, 1 was left as 1/8NPT. the male/male fitting had one end cut off and drilled out and the correct 1/8NPT thread was brazed in place.

    cheers phil
