    Question Intercooler

Has anyone had trouble with oil leaks from the intercooler on their TD5 mine feels like a recuring bad dream . Which after market intercooler is the best?where and howmutch is a reasonable price? What is the mechanics behind intercoolers and how easy are they to remove and replace. I have just taken holidays and ---was--- preparing to head out bush while preparing the td5 Igot underneath for a look and oil all over the plastic guards and dripping off the steering arm. Pulled all the covers off still can't determine exact leak but all engine seals look OK and everthing down around the intercooler is covered in oil..HELP...

Greg the volume of oil you describe seems excessive.

Check you Auto Cooler lines for leaks..

Its isnt uncommon for the intercooler to break away at the tank to fin area but that sounds like a lot of oil.

More specifically is it drivers or passengers side... etc.. the more data the better...

Any chance of posting a pic or 5 ?

    Intercooler?

On closer inspection and a look at the rave disc AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION COOLER---I'm no mechanic still can't see where it is coming from exactly but it is alittle closer to being solved---maybe

    Passenger side?

Pop the top off the airbox, disconnect the airbox inlet and pop the airbox out.

You'll get a better view of the end of the ATC from there.

Just poppedthe hose on the cooler (same oil) put it back started engine moved auto annd back to park oil flow from cylinder at the end of cooler seems it has been rubbing on something (it is a bit loose at that end-from what I can see) will remove the air box now just to be sure. Looks like a job for the mechanic I can't see a way to get thatcooler out without removing front grill and radiator--any ideas???
