What a load of crap. That has as about as much credibility as "You should only ever buy a Landcruiser or Patrol if you are going off road"...

I used my D2 for mostly towing on road and had a really good run from Mickey Thompson STZs.

Anyone used the new Bridgestone A/T 697's?

Need to replace my 18's and they have a similar size to OEM (265/60).

I can get just about cost pricing on them thru a mate, but would love feedback on them first.

Don't touch el cheapo brands - not worth it. My D2 had a new set of Nankangs fitted just before I bought it - they lose traction in the wet, & I'll be lucky to get 35k out of them.

A mate has Maxxis Bighorns on his Defender, & after 60 000km they still have 9mm tread from an original 13mm, so with a majority of bitumen use they're lasting well. Sure they are mud tyres, but I'm intending to fit the same next year so I have the right rubber for my off-road forays without it wearing out too quickly as my daily driver.

    Just my opinion

Just fitted Hercules terra traks to my disco, 275/65 for $200 each. Quite happy with them so far, a lot quieter than the coopers I took off.

    td5 tyres

Anyone for Eldorado ZTRs AT? had them on when I first bought the car, found them pretty good.Due to supply problems went to Coopers, but not really happy with them.
Replaced with Eldorados once more.Good in the wet on sealed roads, good on the dirt including harsh rocky conditions without chipping,no good in mud,but not a muddy design anyway!
Wear well,60Ks on them, probably go further but I like to replace sooner rather than later.
A little cheaper than Coopers but well worth considering.

    Hey.

    From here http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registrati...vsi09_rev4.pdf

'Minor Changes to Wheels' - page 2.
'The outside diameter of the wheel and tire combination must be no more than 15mm over the largest diameter wheel and tire combination specified for the vehicle.'

So...the largest wheel and tire combination for my D2a is the 255/55/R18
    Diameter is 737.7mm [ (18'' = 457.2cm)+ ((255x55%=140.25mm)x2=280.5)]

    Which means I can't put on General Grabber AT2 255/60/R18 - bummer
    Diamater is 763.2mm [ 457.2mm + ((255x60%)=153 x2)=306mm]

The 255/60/R18 is therefore 25.5mm larger which is more than 15mm.

    Rats.

Can someone please assure me I'm wrong.
