Or fabricated chassis. I found a guy near me in Qld building his own 4x4, from chassis up with a Navara Shell and F250 running gear, very impressive. 4500kg GVM and combined mass of 9000kg.

Here is the link if anyone is interested; RCV Supertourer 6.0 V8 TDi - Australian 4WD Action Online Forums - the 4WD, 4x4 and offroad truck community. Get the latest tips, news, reviews, images and video clips.

I wonder if he would mind building a chassis for me? I might need to find out.
Since he's 3 yrs into his build i dont like your chances of having it delivered before you lose interest in it. Maybe the solution and i know this is blasphemy but i know a lot of members on here have never heard of the term agnostic before BUT as you said the vehicle of choice in the comp scene is GU/GQ patrol. Now these have some of the strongest standard drivetrains around and mountains of parts available for them, they also have your desired wheelbase of around 117". so surely the logical solution is throw your D2 on top of a GU. This then removes the need for all of the dif mods besides maybe some lockers, suspension is cheap and easy to setup and they are probably the most bullet proof rig out there.

Im a devoted landrover fan but i can admit when something else is good and in this case i think its going to be easier. Plus you can bolt on portals for them or simply run 37's confidently.

Just a thought that might save you millions of the hard earned and im sure a body swap will get past QT easier. AND something else you havent mentioned is that when you do put the D2 onto what ever chassis you end up with the SRS will be history so do a 15" body lift if you want.

Not trying to rain on your parade and i admire your enthusiasm and vision but its sounds like your wanting to build a monster you can take the kids to the cape in and you cant have both. Its either gonna be a comp truck on 37's thats horrible on the road/cant register or will be a tourer that isnt gonna compete in the open classes. If your going to be confined to street mod then just run the D2 as it is i say.

Goodluck ill def be keeping an eye on your thread to see where it goes!

I completely agree with you about the GU Patrol Chassis, it would be the logical solution and depending on QT may be the path I look into. I usually dont like doing things the logical way though, not as much fun....

Thats why I bought a Land Rover, what other vehicle can keep you entertained as much as a LR, always fixing something, modifying something, breaking something and generally stuffing around. I am sure my D2 has a personality, actually I think it has 2.

I do like the look of the GU Patrol with portals though. I still dont think they have been aproved in QLD. All other states have been.

I had also realised the removal of the SRS requirement so would be looking at possibly a smaller suspension lift and a slight body lift as mentioned to keep the COG lower.
