Can anyone suggest somewhere in Melbourne to replace the roof lining, preferably eastern/northern suburbs or South Melbourne (where I work).

    Thanks

Yes, the sagging roof liner - or, as Land Rover call it, the "Bedouin Roof Liner", was an included accessory in the D1's and D2's rather than an optional accessory. It is designed to sag after a fixed period of time, normally about a month after any warranty type/recall period has past..

$300 to $350 seems to be the going rate in Sydney, and is, as Diana said, money well spent rather than trying the cheap fix.

Has anyone used a fibreglass head liner as a replacement.

On Wheeler Dealers they put one into a P38 Range Rover.

I read somewhere (can't remember where) that if you go over it with an iron it will melt the glue back on. Have not tried it as it sounds a bit like BS.......but hey, who knows

Yes, BS as it's not the glue that fails.
The foam backing comes apart & you're left with part of the foam on the lining & the other part on the board.

Recover it. Anything else is a waste of time and money.

I had my P38A head lining and sunroof recovered by a mob in Granville for $110. I removed and refitted it. (Thanks to Scouse for telling me about him.)

The OE roof bars fitted to my D2 were the source of a water leak so I had to remove the roof lining to remove, inspect, seal and refit the bars etc. I was very careful but the lining started to sag three weeks after this job. Prior to it was perfect so that sucked! Yes I know irrelevant post.
