But the V8 cruisers burn so much of it they keep adding fresh stuff all the time :wasntme:

But,if you use a thicker oil in them, they don't use much at all although they use more fuel..............Tojo must think oil is cheaper than fuel:o
Mate of mine runs an Auto shop that actually specialises in diesel jap 4WD's,and has been doing some tests recently on customers LC 4.5 TD's.
Actually rebuilt one recently as well.
He also regularly rebuilds the 3.0l Nissan granades.
Yet both D2/D3/D4 use 5w30,and have no oil issues at all.:)
What do you think of Castrol Edge in the 0-40 and 5-30.
It seems a bit pricey but wondering how it compares to other oils in a TD5?
Best value and a proven performer oil is Penrite.
Which Penrite are you guys using at the moment?
I bought a few bottles of the Castrol when it was on special at $15 less than normal.
Will use them for the next two oil changes then try the penrite.
I'm guessing the whole titanium thing in Castrol is just marketing crap?
I'm using Penrite HPR Diesel 5 5W-40 oil Penrite Oil - A Better Class Of Oil
I've found Repco to be the cheapest 'normal' price of $82 for 10ltrs, even cheaper when they put it on special :D SCA want $92 for 10ltrs
I'll keep my eye out for a special in the next few months on Penrite.
I put in the Castrol 0-40 today and took it for a drive. Car was running much smoother and seemed to rev more linear. Might just be my imagination or might just be fresh oil as opposed to oil that's about 8000kms old.
Very curious as to what Rick thinks of the Castrol edge and the supposed benefits of titanium (which I'm sure is just marketing).
Has anybody used Fuchs oils? Any thoughts?
