Ask Tombie about them......might be a somewhat better price.

I've just replaced the worklight on the back of my Disco with one of the new Narva 4 LED units. I compared it with the similar Rigid Industries light available at the local Opposite Lock store - similar output but the Narva is considerably cheaper. Incredible light output for the power draw and absolutely brilliant for reversing and for lighting up a campsite (and you sure don't want to look directly into the light when it's on), but just cannot imagine LED being much use for anything other than fairly short range lighting.

I looked into it recently, and the best info I could find says that LED is now leading the market in short range lighting, but cannot compete with HID for longer range. LED certainly provides better spread than anything else on the market. For serious off roading or competition style work, I think these LED lights as shown on Rigid Industries' site would be unbeatable.

My son's work ute (79 series Cruiser) has two aftermarket HID worklights above the cabin pointing back over his toolboxes / benches. They look a lot like the standard Cat worklight, but are an aftermarket HID unit with internal ballasts (common on minesites around here on loaders / dozers etc). We compared them side by side last night, and for lighting immediately behind the vehicle (up to about 10 - 15 metres), or in his case lighting up his work area, the single LED unit on mine was easily better than the two HID lights on his Toyota. At longer range - the HID's produced more light, but in the applications that both of us have them mounted for, we'd both prefer the LED units (which also chew way less juice). The Narva one I have was $250 through a local auto sparkie.

Pics taken in fairly bright daylight.
    Cheers .........
