Tyres, yes again, but different.

I have just fitted some 245/70/16 Latitude Cross Michelins (in extra load version), they are wonderful, I could not be happier. They are super quiet, amazing in the wet on the road, handle really well and a good A/T off road.

I work in Africa, they are a common tyre in West Africa (French hence a lot of michelin) and they have a great following in harsh conditions there for those who can afford them.

For me, there are 4 little bits of rubber between you (and your family) and god, therefore i never skimp on tyres.

I run the new mud KM2 on my LSE, I tried them on the disco and they were terrible (245.75.16), way too noisy/twitcy and they made it even more sluggish. On the LSE, they are a dream, very good on the road, its amazing they are so different on the LSE compared to the disco but thats just my opinion.

So I need a sticky road tyre that's great in the sand and can handle some offroad stuff without falling apart. And there's rarely be any mud work, the Disco is really for getting our camper and the kids to some out of the way areas, not really a mud wallower or rock hopper.

The Silent Armours seemed great but they don't do the size, and the tyre places have no real experience, although they tried to guess what they would do, with one place saying the Cooper ATR's would be their choice.

I have the Wrangler Silent Armor 245/75R16. These are the USA version.

There are also 235/75R16's ( see here - Tyre Search, Goodyear, Australia).

Did you want a different profile?

Gday, on Disco II I have fitted Mickey Thompson 265/75R16 MTZ tyres but also had a 65mm and 50mm lift kit in them and minor adjustments on steering stops. Bloody Awesome!

I looked at the Michelin Latitude Cross but decided on the Michelin LTX A/T2 (LT) and I seem to be the only one on here running them but I'm really happy with them. They have a very deep tread so I'm hoping to get good kms out of them.

I can actually concur with the Michelin Lattitiude. Just fitted to the x-trail and am considering for the disco. Either that or since we're moving to Nowra going full time off road something.

I looked at the LTX, availability was an issue for me as was size, I didnt want to go bigger with the 245/75, little diesel is slow enough without adding gearing issues with tyres, plus the wife will never understand the speedo error !!!

it's a shame the mickey thompsons don't come in smaller sizes...their new AT looks the goods:

Well I headed down to the tyre shop having decided on the Michelin Latitude Cross but when I arrive I find out there's none available for 6-8 weeks. So I thought I'd go with my second choice, the Bridgestone 694's but they couldn't get my size for another few days and I was heading off the next day. So I ended up with the Geolander ATS's so I guess time will tell how they perform.

They do stick well in the wet, much better than the BFG's.

Pirelli Scorpion ATR- Brilliant tyre.

I drive 75% hard top 25% off road.

Quiet on Bitumen road, with a pattern aggressive enouch for soft stuff, and a strong but flexible side wall for low pressure rocky terrain work, great on sand very stable at 15 psi.

About to go with my second set. They do the job

Try the 5 rib... This would be a FANTASTIC tyre for the Original Poster of this thread...
