    ARB v Detroit v ?? Diff Locker

I struggled, a little, up some rocky and slippery hills on the weekend and realised a rear diff locker is required for improved performance. Both CDL and TC where in play.
I don't have any experience with any form of diff locker and am looking for advice - most realiable, most popular, easiest to install, easiest to engage, best price, best performance, best all round etc.
I know about ARB, as a mate is running it on the front of his D-max, but surely there are others to consider.
I'm sure there are some useful opinions out there somewhere.

ARB are the way most go, and they are easy to get service or backup if there is a problem. Other similar ones are Maxidrive which has a unit mounted to the outside of the axle housing, and there is the McNamara locker who produce arguably the best locker in the world, but they are a disaster to deal with. Others may be the detroit locker and for non-locking assistance would be the Detroit Trutrac. The other diffs are uncommon.

What about the TJM lockers,, are they any good, how many have these installed? I was lead to believe that the ARB's are expensive compared to others, but not that much better,, just paying for the name ??

I'm not sure that TJM do one for Rovers do they. These are Jack McNamara lockers anyway.

Do now apparently, it was only in a thread a few days ago, including the advertising PDF.

Found it TJM Pro Locker for Rover 24 spline

BTW, wouldn't a TruTrac and TC be damned near unbeatable ? being almost as good in most cases as a full on locker without the drawbacks ?

MD lockers are being made by MR Auto now, so they are still available.

I have twin ARBs in one vehicle, and MD rear in the other. All work well, no issues with either.

TJM/McNamara are also a very good option.

With the 3 of these good quality AU made manual lockers, I cannot see why anyone in AU would bother with the UK/US MANUAL lockers.

I agree - TT+TC would be as good as open+locker - or near enough that only 4x4 comp drivers would notice the difference.
