I hate the fact that I don't have a CDL (2002 D2 TD5) and I'm determined to correct this lack of vehicle 'manhood' ;)
It's a bit like having an unfullfilled scrotum :D:D especially when it comes to snowy or muddy roads :D:D:D:wasntme:
I just picked up my 2002 disco2 with new t/fer case with CDL and genuine lever and shift mechanism. I even got a light on the dash to say its engaged .I was lucky to get a very low k's t/fer case off a late model. The new clutch and dualmass fly wheel make it very smoth and suprisingly quiter. Trevor (British 4x4 repairs Perth) went over the whole vehicle and has eliminated all the oil leaks ,new sump and tappet cover gasket, new cam seal, new rear main seal, new clutch slave cylinder ,spigot bush ,fan belt and even a new sump plug and washer.
The whole operation went without a hiccup. Many thanks to Triumph Rover spares in Adelaide very easy to deal with and looked after me very well. I will now keep the old girl a few more years and take her places we were not game to venture previously. Next step is some 16 inch wheels and offroad tyres and new shocks. No lift kit required my brother has a boat if I want to get sea sick!~ I cant wait to test her out .:)

Strewth Mike....how much did that exercise cost?? (If you don't mind revealing it to those who don't have CDL :()
You wont regret having the CDL.
Make sure the Hill Decent function still works i. e. the high/low switch has been connected.;)
New t/fer case with all the fruit to do a factory conversion $1600 .To fit and do all the rest $2800 thats with new dual mass at $720 and clutch kit at $500. My old T/fer was leaking oil badly and needed reconditioning anyway thats what pushed me to go ahead.

Just looking at rebuilt cases with CDL from Ashcroft.
They are GBP545 with current rates thats around AU$930 ready to bolt in.
Not sure about freight costs though, but being under $1000 you should get away with no taxes.
Genuine D2 lever is then another GBP245 or AU$420 plus freight.
Don't forget the 150GBP core charge.
Cost wise, it probably isn't worth freighting the old one back?
D2 TC with CDL in the wrecking notices:D
