Love the Engine Saver

I think I may have one on my Disco?

Is this normally mounted on top of the radiator?

The guy I bought the Disco off mumbled something about it to me about it, something about a beeper or something?

In any case, if this is indeed an engine saver, how can I check its operational, I can appreciate how much of a god send this device would be to saving ones engine from lunching itself, moreso considering I have a water cooled turbo!

With the ignition on or engine running pull the wire off in the photo. breaks the circuit, if its working you will hear the beeper.

If you have the one with the heat sink(spelling;)) it meashures the head temprature and alert you long before the coolant boils.

In my experience with the engine saver mounted int he bleed screw int he top hose, if it loses about 1 litre it starts to go off. It is hard to get air in there sufficient to set it off, but you can use different probe lengths (screws) if you wanted...but no need I reckon. They dont false alarm and they do work. I have a scangauge for the heat side of it which is how I knew my cooling system needed some TLC long before it got too hot and long before the gauge on the dash would have moved - it never did in fact (mine was a sticky Thermostat).

Mine goes off every now and then if the system isn't bled properly I found the easiest way to bleed the thing is thpark on a hill with the drivers side up and pull the res tank out of the bracket from the fire wall side first, with the engine at opperatng temp and running with the heater on flat out. Hold the res tank up as high as you can for a few minutes until it stops gurgling (technical term).

Stop the alarm going off so must get all the air out.
