Apparently the Throttle Body Housing Gasket does let go at around 150klm-200klm. I had mine replaced for $60 (parts) and about 20 mins work by LR specialist during a routine service.
Good luck
In the West where Pedro and I live it can and does get to minus...so for those 4.00am starts I like having the throttle body heater. I read on here ages ago that they go, so being a dutiful pessimist I stripped mine down and had a look, but to save time I ordered and got the gasket which then came with the housing (cant buy separately as said above)...anyway mine was fine it was just that my gasket had a little bit of weeping but the housing was in great nic...so I replaced it anyway and kept the original as a spare. Put blue gasket sealant on and within 6-8 months it had started weeping and has over time (12--24 months) grown some white crystals from the leak and has stopped leaking - probably sealed itself up...so I am ignoring it and have the spare. I dont know why the gasket goes. When I get sick of it I will make my own gasket and make sure its good material.
Cheers
Hi simonl8353 and ozscott - thanks for your replies. I didn't think it would be an overly expensive part. Landyprincess has done around the 250K mark so I guess some things are bound to start needing replacing now.
Funnily enuf, I found my paperwork from my last service that I had done with mornington prestige and malcolm had noted this problem down with about 7 other leaks (something which I am sure are not uncommon!) so i'll either save a small fortune and get him to do all the work or source everything (provided I can understand the handwriting) and take it from there and hubby can do it all in part w/ myself ...
cheers,
