    Water tank

Thought some of you might be interested in the water tank I had made for my D2. Have tried several other approaches including 'willow' 10L, 15L and 20L containers and even bought a 35L water bladder for which I made a box for it for behind front seats. I was also worried about securing the load in the rear. I looked into a 50L stainless tank to be fitted under the car but it was $900 supply only and the installation looked messy. The plastic tank cost me $350.

This tank fits neatly behind front seat (need to slide the seat back to lock into position). It doesn't really move around, as its designed to fit between the rear feet of the front seat and wedge shape keeps it in place. I have also secured it using an strap which goes around one of the rear seat hinges.

Tank provides 45L, sits between two axles and is quite low down. It takes 1 minute to fit and remove. I have added a $40 pump from ebay but have set it up so can get the water out without it if necessary. The breather tube looks a little silly at the moment but I'm working on it.

If anyone is interested, send me a PM and I'll send you the sketch. I made a cardboard mockup to check the size etc which I recommend you do, too.

What is the tank made from?

Can you post some bigger pics, please?

Did you have it made up? I can see the "Bendigo Tanks" sticker.

That tank would be nice but at full width. It looks like it fits a lot better than my Engel one.

The tank is made from 8mm white HDPE. I obtained it from WRENGCO tanks - see their website on Custom Made Holding Tanks for storage Marine, Boat, Holding, Yacht, Campervan, Caravan, RV, Motorhome - Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Queensland. Australia. I have attached the scanned sketch I sent them. They quoted a little more than $350 but accepted that for cash. I'll take another photo tonight out of the car and post it.

A full width tank of the same height, full of water could well weigh 150kg, a little too much for me. I know from my trips its rare I need more than 45L and would take a collapsible 20L container for the other odd occasion. My tank fits between the B pillar and the centre console and under the sloping back of the seat, not quite between the feet of the seat as my poor words above said.
