    sold Td5 D2

    I sold my Disco 2 TD5 this week ,
Couldnt put up with the vibration any longer and didn,t want to spend $ after $ trying to fix it !!!!!!!
sold it for what i paid 10 months ago and was due for rego next week ,
Gone back to the trusty 2000 model Jeep that was half the price of the Disco and rides just as well .

    Happy Rovering people !

    Sorry to lose you Tassie

Whenever I drive my wifes X5 I ask myself why do I persevere with the same quirky old vehicle, why not upgrade to a D4?

Then as D2 drives by, its all pretty clear why.... The D2's traditional robust design, clean lines, together with it's brilliant driving position make the vehicle a hard one to let go of
Landy drivers are renowned for staring at each other vehicles, even if it is a sneak peak. It is a love hate relationship.
Yes you either have to be mechanically minded or be on pretty good wicket to put up with it's idiosyncrasies but ultimately it's worth it

Owning a D2 is like being part of the Mormans, once your in it won't let go

    Deep ehh?

Unfortunately I am also going to sell my Disco 2 TD5, just when I have got it fully kitted for Outback touring.
Much as I love it, I just can't seem to find a mechanical workshop that I am happy with.

I am on my 9th Landy now.

Its a bug that is hard to explain.

You either got it or you don't.
My Jeep Cherokee was fine but boring and very basic which I guess also had its appeal.

Hope which ever way and turns you take, its the right one for you.

Are you talking servicing issues, costs, or is there something major (or persistent) wrong.
There are a few independants around that know a bit about LR, but I suppose you have tried them.
It will be a pity to loose a local enthusiast to the dark side.
I'm only a beginner with a V8 myself, but would be willing to help out if I could.
    Good luck,

Hey Shaker.... try Fred Smith Automotive in Bayswater, not too inconvenient for you really and that vehicle of yours is very much worth perservering with I think. If not, anyone who's reading this and wants a really good D2 manual, buy this one!

A little further away in Geelong ask for Gordon at Hunter Cuthill, they work only on LR's & bmw's.
Pricey if u want an invoice but they love cash!!!
Absolutely brilliant to deal with & backed up by a few local small business awards too

I think they're trying to help Shaker, not the OP .

Thanks for all the recommendations & offers of help.
It is more an ongoing issue of a lack of confidence in the local repairers, than a worry about the vehicle.
I set it up last year to tow a camper on the Canning Stock Route & it performed faultlessly, I love the vehicle & the set up, but if I am concerned about repairers in the area where I live, as we intend to a lot more remote travel, I am even more concerned about repairers in these sort of locations.
Somebody will get a damn good vehicle!
