Reply With Quotepetrol or diesel?
We have a Discovery 1 and we are looking to buy another vehicle to work along side it. Have looked at adverts for a number of Disco 2's. Many of these mention that the head gasket has been done at around 200k and one made mention of this being a common problem.
Can anyone give me more information? Things I am wanting to know
1. Is this a "common" problem?
2. Is it a once fixed, always fixed or will it reoccur?

The motor I had put in mine did the head gasket at about 120kms but I'm not sure how long it was since the last time the motor was running before the transplant. I've had it back for about a month and hasnt used a drop of water. (touch wood). If u get the head gasket done by a pro ensure he/she is gonna back the work up with some sort of warranty, most offer 3 months parts&labour but be sure to read any fine print too.

Its a lottery,,
my green one blew from a water line to atmosphere, and leaked coolant untill I put some stuff in and that fixed it,, for 3 years.
so that type of coolant leak is not the end of the world.
When the gasket blows between water and compression is a totally different animal and needs to be fixed asap,,
