All sounds great, I'm having the zorst on mine done tomorrow
Can't wait for it to actually sound like a V8!!!
IMO, forgot the extractors, high flo cats maybe but expensive to do.
Good luck!!!
I thought I'd start a bit of a running log of my new (but old) D2
It's not got much done to it yet, but can easily see how the accessories list will mount up!
I've just removed the OEM centre muffler and replaced it with an SRT oval straight through sports muffler. It's made a huge difference to the sound of the car. I can't say that it's done anything for performance from teh drive I've just done after picking it up, but it now sounds like a proper V8 and not the illegitimate offspring after a vacuum cleaner mated with a washing machine.
I had the work done by Tidd Bros. Exhausts in Spotswood. I always go there as their prices are good, they know their stuff and have performed excellent work for me in the past.
Once again they have excelled on all these fronts. They even gave me a free loan car while they did the work!
All up it was $165 inc gst and it sounds great. Not too loud, but loud enough to unleash the V8.
If any Melbourne members need work done, Tidd Bros. can be contacted on 03 9391 4277. 90 Hudson Road, Spotswood. Ask for Fred.
I know there's not much of a list here compared to some, but it's not going to be a serious offroad machine. Here's the specs so far:
1999 D2 Auto
4.0 V8
ACE
SLS
SRT straight through centre muffler
Tow pack
Rear Step
Coming soon:
New handbrake and gear boots
Side steps
Brush bar front and rear
Alpine headunit with ipod connectivity
Possible speaker upgrade
Possible Genie extractors
I'll post some pics at some stage when I've got more time!

Cheers mate...
Yeah, the extractors are fast becoming part of the too hard basket. I'm sure I could spend the money on something more worhwhile.
Great looking D2 Sully, from the effort you have already put in with the manifold I can feel this vehicle has now found a good and passionate companion in someone prepared to invest a little time (and money) to then be rewarded with many great experiences. Best of luck.
Thanks Simon. Yep, I know that these machines require constant TLC, which I don't mind at all. I love working on my own cars, with a restoration on a W116 S Class Mercedes and a W108 S Class Mercedes PLUS tinkering with the Disco, I can varify that I'm going to be a busy boy... Albeit a very content one.
So far the D2 has been great. There's a few extra things that I'd like to address soon, such as the brakes. They seem to pulse a little when slowing down, so I'm planning on getting new rotors and pads on all four corners... Maybe a nice set of DBA's or RDA's with some beefy commercial pads.
Thank goodness I've got the reliable and trustworthy Subaru Liberty to cart me around!
I've also had an update regarding the install of the extractors. A supplier says "these headers require a lot of work to fit the 4.0 model. You will need new catalytic converters and the base pipe will need to be remade. O2 sensor fitting is also required."
For what looks like will be heading towards, if not more than $1000, the extractors have gone into the too hard and too expensive basket.
If it were me and you want to do some offroading, I'd be doing the CDL lever and actuator first.
Then do the other mods, just a thought
Nice looking D2 BTW
Baz.
Cheers Baz.

Major offroading isn't on the cards at the moment, so a CDL isn't required. I'll venture down that track if I plan any major trips... Maybe if I decide to trek up to Fraser Island with a mate.
Brakes are now a priority. I've just sourced a set of four new rotors and four new pads for $352. Good price? I reckon.
Now, I've replaced rotors and pads before and it's been a pretty straight forward affair. Is there anything I should be aware of before taking on this task on the Disco?
Cheers Baz.

Thanks for the tip. I'll def get a flush done as I have no idea how long the fluid has been in the system anyway.
In reference to the pad and rotor change; Do I need to disconnect the lines, requiring bleeding of the system?
Hi Sully
Where did you source them from.
