    - winches (on both),
    - turbocharged+intercooled engine + LT95A gearbox & PTO drive on one,
    - engine / gearbox conversion on the other,
    - non-standard springs and shocks on both,
    - long range tanks, rocksliders, bucket seats, compressor, tank guards, wheel flares on one
    - the 90 is a personal import, so nothing to match it to in the "standard database"

Both are insured for agreed value which I'm happy with. The guys were great in explaining limit of cover as it applies to various 4WD situations, and I felt they were giving me stright talk, no marketing BS or vagueness. For any question they didn't have an answer for they got back to me the next day. I have not (yet) had to make any claims, but from experience so far, I have no problems recommending them over run of the mill insurers I've dealt with in the past.

How does their pricing compare with other major insurers?

In my case I have found that DGA and Suncorp were the cheapest options. Shannons were always (slightly) more expensive. However, they are one of the few which offer limited use policies, which often work out cheaper.

Shannons are cheap and provide a great service. AND they will use OEM parts if you want to for your windscreen etc (ever priced an oem front screen )

Have been insured with them for years. They even insured my track car. 1.5 pages of listed mods

If you have mods, just make sure you list them....CB, bars, racks, spotties, ECU upgrades (for towing).....oh, and don't forget to list your engle fridge etc....

Has anyone here ever claimed a screen from Shannons?
Their policy seems fairly strict on the type of damage needed before they'll replace it:

    We will not pay for:
    • chips or fractures that do not extend through the entire
thickness or affect the integrity of the glass

I don't know too many chips that go through both glasses (in the case of laminated).
I guess it could be argued though that any chip affects the integrity of the glass, especially in a car with SRS airbags.

Yeah - they did a chip repair on my L322 (work done by O'Briens) with no drama. It was not that deep, but O'Briens said it could star without repair, and the price of a chip fix compared to a new windscreen (with those special inbuilt defrosting wires) would be minor.

Maybe they are protecting themselves against people claiming for 'cosmetic' chips....

Sure have. Had a large crack. Could take it where I wanted and send them the receipt for payment.

    no issues at all.

I have claimed two windscreens on my RRC. No dramas either time. Just go to a windscreen place, fill out their forms and get windscreen replaced. Never heard any more about it either time.
The biggest hassle was them finding a new windscreen with no tinted band at the top.

And another claim I made was when some scum of the earth tried to get in to the disco and if it wasn't for the tint, they would have. Drivers door. Again, no problems with the claim.

"YOUI took the line honours ... because they based the assesment on the fact that we don't use the D2 to get to/from work, it worked out considerably less than everyone else, with better cover, agree'd value, and a $50 glass excess."

Ohhhh I so hope you don't ever need to claim on your Youi policy! I have NEVER been treated so poorly by any company for any reason as I have been by them. I have had to put up with so much crap and STILL no resolution.

I have moved the insurance on my other vehicles already and the total premium if only $41 extra.

YouI were utterly useless when i tried them for a quote, completely failed to gather any of the sort of information about how the vehicles are used that they harp on about in their advertising.

I've also been very impressed with Shannons - no issues with a windscreen replacement on the L322, $1100 heated front screen replaced the day after it cracked.

Had someone run into the back of the Jag a while back and Shannons dealt with it all as he wasn't insured, car was collected and taken to their repairers just up the road on the afternoon after the crash happened in the morning.

Only issue i have had was when a chap pulled onto a roundabout in front of me in the TVR, they didn't have anyone listed in their list of repairers who specialised in repairing fibreglass that they could refer me to so i ended up having to track down a repairer myself. Still covered the full cost of the claim with no trouble though.

I've currently got the L322, D2, Jag and TVR with them on a single policy. No issues with the mods on the D2 and the price is very reasonable as they take into account the split of use between the cars. I ended up moving my BMW and Rover P6 away from them as they weren't able to complete with RACV on price for cars that are laid up for restoration or on club plates.

    Cheers,

    Al
