Child Seat Definitive answer? D2 3rd row

    Hi all,

hoping to make an offer on a MY2003 7 seater on thurs....but haven't yet confirmed if a child's seat can be legally used in the 3rd row occasional seats.

    Does anyone know:
    1) if the landrover seats are rated to take a child seat?
    2) if anchor points can/have ever been engineered in?
    3) if none of the above, has anyone ever had a whole new seat made?

I know it's been discussed before (did a search), but could find a definitive answer.

    Cheers,
    Rick

    NO

3rd row seats don't have anchor points in them the anchor point for kid seats are left and right seat behind the seat on the back and the middle seat is in the center of the roof at the back.

    Hope this helps

Thanks. Yeah, I know re three car seats. Looking to need to put four in (maybe five) as kids need to stay in them till 7years old.

Hence three across the middle, need to know about two in the back.

    Here's a plan.

Buy the single (40split) seat from the middle row (the one with a child anchor built into it).

Bolt it to the cargo bay floor on the RH side.

    = perfect.

    Nothing like creative thinking.

not all booster seats require anchor points if just using the normal seat belt. by 4yo can use the regular booster in the rear two seats and keep the littles in car seats in the middle row.

    @Yorkie,

THANKS - as long as we don't have our fourth till our oldest is 4 you're right, just a high back booster seat in the very rear, no need for a tether.

Just have to not have 4 under 4....we're about to have 3 under 2.5.

Looks like we'll buy the car.

I use tethered seats in the rear row and just use the cargo tiedowns as anchor points. The kids love riding there.

    Hi there,
congratulations on the pending addition :-). We will be having 4 under 4 with our newest in Jan11 and I face the same issue as yourself about additional anchor points - we will be having our eldest in a Hi-liner SG booster seat seated in the cargo area which still requires the anchor point.

There's a few options we are still deciding on:

    1. Installing anchor points into the cargo floor area or,
    2. Purchasing original middle row seat (double or single) which already has them and if not having one put in at the back of the seat.

Given that you have already (?) purchased a 7 seater... your best bet may be to have the anchor points installed into the cargo floor area behind the seats? You'd no doubt have read about keeping clear of wiring/fuel lines and the like if doing it yourself :-)

But.... legislation/insurance and how legal you want to drive in your state may dictate otherwise... ??

Goodluck, let me know what you decide with. Will be interested to know...

Not really a definitive answer as there are a few different scenarios :-)

    Cheers,

    Lp
