The spacers come with the shocks (in the box) so you only need the reducers

I have 360/80 rear and 275/78 front and can not get rid of the fronts quick enough way under damped for a D2 with barwork and winch... And will pitch UP due to the rear mass of tanks, bumper, draws etc...

Threw in my slightly shorter 360s in the front and its very, very balanced and poised...

Next will be rears to front (I have 28" open) and new 400/100 rears

Good stuff, thanks for this Mike, and my apologies for my previous advice! 360/80 works in the front. Thats really good then and the GU rear patrol shock is a cheaper option in that case - which is the front shock I run with 400/100 in the rear.

Did the reducers not come with the shocks, but the spacers did? I had the reducers come with mine but had to make the spacers.
    Cheers

Can you explain the GU Patrol shock story. I recall you mentioning it previously, and I reread that, but am unclear. Are you suggesting as an alternative to the Bilsteins to get GU Patrol shocks? Are they also remote reservoir setup?

So is that because you have a significant amount of weight in the ass end? i.e. for a vehicle that doesn't have tanks and draws in the rear, do you think 275/78 front and 360/80 rear would be suitable?

Billstein GU Patrol rear shocks from Sydney Shocks - Heasemans (ie Australian spec, not US spec) are valved at 360/80 and are about 400-410/645mm in length. If thats the valving that you're after and the lengths suit then its a cheaper way to go about it and its an easy part to get a hold of.

The reality is that you more than likely wont be able to fade a bilstein shock. By design they don't fade - they work or they're broken and if they get hot the pressure increases in them rather than fading. If you want custom then 6100 or 7100 with remote canisters are the go, and you would select the 7100's only because they are a short body shock which has packaging and travel benefits - IF the cannister outlet doesn't head out in the wrong direction - I suspect this is ok though as a few D2's have them fitted. The buggy shocks are heim jointed, I don't think you will be happy with these in the long term although they are cool.

My head says to get standard bolt in shocks, no stuffing around and realistically would more than suit my requirements.
But my heart really looked forward to having those reservoirs mounted in the wheel arches!
    Hmmmm...

Any update on how these bilstein a are travelling a few years on?

I am about to put in 2" spring lift in 2001 D2 and these sound just the ticket.
