D2 Key fob, cheaper in US?

We are taking a trip to Disneyland (Anaheim) in January next year and was wondering whether or not the key fobs are cheaper over there.

If I take the one I have can the new fob be programmed to it?

If not can I program it myself?

If not how much would it cost to get it done?

Fobs are cheaper everywhere other than Australia (at the moment).

Check ebay/Britcar (UK)/British Parts Utah etc. All significantly cheaper.

Best way to go is if you know the part number then just request that part number when over there but you can order over the internet as well.

You can program the key yourself if you have a nanocom or similiar or take it to a dealer for $70.

Buying one from the dealer in Australia is roughly $335 - $375 (yikes). Even over the internet in Australia doesn't compare.

You need to be careful which one you get.

Here's all the different part number for the key fob.

    CWE100680KIT - 433.92Mhz (NRML or LHD, Europe)
    CWE100720KIT - 315Mhz (LHD-KOR, RHD-J)
    CWE100700KIT - 315Mhz (AUS)
    CWE100690KIT - 433.92Mhz (LHD, Europe)
    CWE100710KIT - 315Mhz (LHD-RI)
    CEW100710KIT - 315Mhz (LHD-CDN/MEX/USA)

Depending on what year your car is will determine which one you need.
CWE100680KIT and CWE100700KIT are usually for the australian models. A a rule of thumb, models with YA in their chassis numbe use a 680 and models with XA in their chassis number use a 700.

Getting a new fob for cheaper from overseas can be a real pain in the sense of finding the right one.

    Good luck.

Is the US 710 compatible with the Aussie 700?

My car is a D2 '99 with XA in the VIN.

I'm not 100% sure whether they are compatible. I've got a new fob coming from the US at the moment. I'm not even sure of the part number that is being sent but the supplier has indicated that it's 315mhz and that they are interchangeable, but is willing to swap for another if it doesn't work.

I'll take it to get programmed soon and deliver the results to everyone.

Looked at getting a key fob from the USA myself a while back and was told (by the USA supplier) that the LHD are different to our RHD disco's. Get one from the UK to be sure (mine worked) and the pound for dollar is pretty good at the moment.
