I did the change & hardly noticed any difference.Remember the speedo will read lower than your actual speed on the new tyres.I think by around 5% from memory.I am back on 235's ATM,& speedo is exactly as my GPS.
Hi All,
Last week got some new tyres for the D2 and opted for the D694 Bridgestone in 245 as it came in LT version, where as the 235 are unavailable in LT.
Happy with the tyres, nice tread pattern for an ATR, but....
It has lost its responsiveness ans no longer holds on hills where it would easily sit on 110, it now drops down to 105, and the auto needs to drop down a cog.
The tyre size is 15mm dia larger than the same 235/70/16.
I didnt expect a small change to be SO noticable.
Is this what others have noticed??

Hi Rusty
I wouldn't have thought that 15mm would make any noticeable difference. a new set of A/T would have a tread depth of around 15mm so when 1/2 worn they would be 15mm smaller in diameter than when new
when i ran my MTZ they were 75mm bigger and it was def obvious even at the pump!
cheers
Hi Guys
just did the same on my D2a V8, speedo is 1.5% slow measured with GPS ,so when speedo shows 110 km/h you are doing 112 km/h. not worth worrying about IMHO

I know the speado is out a little, around 2 - 4km difference between the GPS.
But the difference in the gearing is very noticebale.
So am curious to know if others have noticed it, or if I should start looking at why the donk has lost its oomf, as it just may be coincidence.
I run 265/75/16 so now close to 32" (originals are @ 29").
Mine doesn't like holding 100Km/h up hill but at 112Km/h it holds well(TD5).
If traviling in 100 zones I will sometimes drop to third and let the converter lock up(picked up from the guys on here who tow).
If you went from passenger type HT tyres to all terrain light truck tyres then don't forget the extra weight you are having to spin up as well.

One thing I noticed with the 245/75/16 muddies on mine was the transmission surging.
At around 60km/hr it was not smooth. It was the same symptom I had when the air sensor was playing up last time but as soon as I put the 18's with HP tyres back on it drives like new.
I also didnt realise how much of a difference the mud tyres made until I went back to the HP's.
I only went back to them for now as no one can balance my Maxxis Buckshots properly and they try to shake the disco to pieces.
I want to do some checking and try a 305/60/R18 on the standard rims otherwise slightly narrower 275/70/R18, either Mickey Thmpson MTZ or BF Goodrich KM2's. (3" lift and cut guards) Just have to find a tyre shop with some old tyres in that size for a trial.
Then keep the 16' steel rims for a set of Simex or similar.
