what do you mean by connected to altenator?

The main batt is connected virtually directly to the alt. You wouldn't connect your winch directly to the alt.
Finished the mount yesterday. Amazing what you can achieve in 2 days with $50-. Only mods are need longer bolts on left, cut out in bumper plastic (&part of steel backing) and the lower plastic cover behind needs the outer tabs that are screwed to the chassis cut off. Otherwise from underneath you can't tell it's there. You can just see in the pic behind the grill (drivers side) where I fitted the solenoid, the wired control plug and control switch are also behind there just in black.
Also took it past an engineer and it has his approval re the crush cans as it sits behind the front line of them. I also asked about reskining the bumper in a steel fascia instead of the plastic and he said as long as it was light enough (basically the same thickness as the backing plate material) because the airbag isn't triggered at the front it would be ok by him.
Now wondering, need to establish some recovery points. Was thinking of some eyebolts through the front of the mounting plate. It's one piece c section channel, 13mm flanges and 7mm web with 6mm folded plates mounting it onto the chassis. All bolted with M10 G8.8 or larger bolts (incl chassis bolts).
I have two listings for collared eye bolts. One for steel which lists 20mm @ 2.0 ton & 7/8 @ 2.52 ton while stainless 20mm are rated at 11500kg. Both at 30deg max pull angle.
While I have seen them used, does anyone have any constructive negatives? Would always be using in pairs, linked with either a sling or chain and shackles to reduce the internal angle. Just unsure as to how big to go.
Confusion reigns.
