td express, I'd have thought that cleaning both ends of the harness is a very short term fix; as you have experienced. I dont think it would take long to wick into the plugs again. Sounds you need to replace it.
Coming home from holidays yesterday towing the camper, the car suddenly started to run rough and lost power. Sounded like it was running on 4 cylinders, and more noticable under load up hills.
Idled rough at stand still and wouldnt go over 2200/2500 rpm.
Almost exact symtoms as delaminated turbo hoses but mine are silicon now.
The throttle sensor was changed a couple of months ago so Im thinking that shouldnt be it.
I pulled out the ECU and cleaned the oil from the plug and did the same at the head end of the loom. It has had the oil here for a while but it normally isnt an issue if I keep on top of it. This appeared to get it idling right but on test drive it turns pear shaped again.
The bit that concerns me most is when it loses power and runs rough, it blows smoke. Not black but blue/white.
It has a Bruce Davis chip and I conciously keep the foot out of it on hills to keep the exhaust temps down, (no temp guage), but am concerned that this may be the problem in some way. The color of the smoke worries me.
It hasnt been hot and the oil looks ok,
The car is an 01 D2 Auto.
Any ideas on what else to look at.
Cheers,

Fuel pump on the way out. I just had mine go. Started running rough. Misfiring and loss of pwr. Harsh vibration and " limp home" lights intermittently on. Thought it was oil in harness too till I cleaned it then took it round the block for a test and it only made it half way.....
thanks mattyg, that pretty much explains what mine is doing but it hasnt put me into limp mode.
I shall investigate further
I would be saying fuel pump also, however, do not rule out the BD chip.
cheers
