    Reverse Parking Sensor help

    Hi my D2 Reversing Sensor seems to be failing intermittently, somedays it works - some days not..... Have cleaned the sensors to make sure it wasnt just a build up of dirt, and all seems normal with dash switch....
    Any clues? Anyone else had this problem???

    Had a similar problem with mine.

    Turned out to be the actual peizo bipper. (The bit that makes the noise)

    Picked up another one from Jaycar, swapped them over, and all was good. The new one has a slightly different tone, but you get used to it.

    Oh, btw - it is located just inside the back door, on the LHS behind the little grill, and runs on 12 volts. Easiest way to find it, is on a day that it is working, put the car into reverse, engine off of course, and follow your ears.

    mine got a bit of water in there (real light cluster cracked and leaked I think) wnet in to reverse one day and it didnt beep, it just made a tone, pulled it out after that and not replaced it

    Gday everyone,

    I have a similar problem but i think similar in the reverse sensors but not similar in symptoms.

    Mine just wont work at all i had a quick look found where wires running etc everything looks to be connected although no sounds nothing at all.

    If you know anything and could help me also FANTASTIC.

    Hi Tony,

    I would be checking the bipper itself. You should have a constant 12v at the terminals while in reverse, and you standing within 400mm of the sensor (which you have to do anyway to check it.)

    Smile ECU the Problem

    Just give you all the benefit of my recent experience. Mine gave up with a bit of a squawk one day. The orange light on the parking sensor button on the dash was flashing whenever the car was in reverse - I guess indicating there was a fault. Tried a new speaker - still no good.

    Took out the ECU (circuit board) for the parking sensor and found this was the problem. Some of the chip connections were corroded and broken off. Was able to source a replacement second hand unit from Triumph Rover Spares in Lonsdale SA - had it within a week (to North Queensland) - paid $185 - now works a treat.

    Couple of tips - Removing the ECU is real easy if you know what to do. Don't do what I did and undo the two bolts holding the metal plate onto the back panel. You just need to unclip the two sets of leads going into the ECU, then lift a couple of plastic clips and the ECU housing opens away from you to allow the ECU to be lifted out - inspect - toss and if corroded - toss in bin. Also don't bother removing the sensors from the bumper bar unless you have checked the ECU first - you will probably be wasting your time.

    Gday Mick, you say you had the yellow light flashing on the dash and that this may have been indicating a fault, so are you saying it doesnt flash now you have fixed the problem? mine also flashes but i thought this was normal....

    mine flashes a bips continuously for about 15 seconds after putting disco into reverse. This is because I damaged and then removed 1 sensor. apparently none of the system works with 1 sensor removed.
