Sorry I have never had a set of the Scorpions but have done about 15000 k's on the D694 A/T's and so far they are pretty good but I wouldn't get that excited about them. Though that might be because I brought the LT version and they can be a bit harsh if you don't get the tyre pressure just right.

"On sand the ATR is a better performer than the AT.
Call the Pirelli tech support tomorrow and ask for Simon. He will be able to locate some for you I'm sure. I did notice that they removed them from the website and replaced them with STR. I just bought a set of Pirelli Scorpion Zero for the Rangie......they are tip top and extremely quiet but will not be as good as the ATR I have on the Disco on the rough stuff. The ATR are really good. I have driven on pebbles, dirt, mud and rock with no issues but obviously they are not going to be as good as the AT in mud......but a heck of a lot quieter on the tar.
Wifes uncle used them on a 13000k trip he had a while ago through the middle, top end and west aus and he was the only one in the group with Pirelli ATR and the only one that didn't get a puncture...but he may also have been the slowest."
cheers
I went from 255/70/16 Scorpion AT's to 245/75/16 Maxxis Bravo 751 in an LT and rate it higher all round than the Pirelli. It is a tyre that resembles quite a lot the XPC. It is a big tough carcass that is excellent in the wet and in towing duties with no squirm - massive load rating. The Scorpions on my D1 - 245/70/16 were LT and better than the passenger rated ones on my D2.
Overall the Maxxis have proven to be very good on sand, road, and off road - mud is no better or worse than the AT's.
Simon Lun (Slunnie) had the AT's and went to the ATR and I think from memory he was very happy with the new ATR so PM him.
Cheers
I picked LT's because I knew I would be towing a 2.5 ton off road caravan and didn't want to risk having lots of sidewall movement from standard walled tyres especially towing off road as I had chosen 265/70 x 16's which are quite a bit bigger tyre all round then the standard 255/55 x18's that my D2a came with.
If I pump the tyres up to suit towing the caravan then it is horrible to drive when not towing. With the standard sized and walled tyres it was easy to get a good driving balance in tyre pressure from just going from the manual but add in the taller tyres with LT construction and it is hard to get exactly the right balance which I'm not sure I have right yet.
Please let me know how you go. I would say one thing if your shocks are really stuffed and your present tyres are scolloping then make sure you fit new shocks at the same time or before the new tyres or you risk cutting down on the life and ride quailty of your new tyres.
cheers,
Terry
I had a set of Scorpions ATs on a Hilux, no complaints, very good tyre, but could not match what my son can do in his hilux with Bridgestone DD 694s. And his Lux is a 2001 3l non turbo where mine is an 07 D4 with turbo. When we get into real soft sand for instance running 12lb pressures he will get up sandhills far easier than I can.
We also just finished 8 days in the Vic High Country and I cant believe where he took that car on all terrain tyres. I had my 2000 Disco, chipped, CDL, TD5 on Mickey Thompson MTZs which performed effortlessly but the 694s stayed with me over ground they just should not have been able to.
They also did not chip out at all. The MTZs showed plenty of chips to the lugs as muddies do on really rough rocky tracks.
If I was after tyres I would get muddies, no question, as the rubber these days is far quieter than they ever used to be, but will never be as quiet as less agressive tyres. But that was not the question, so all I can addd is the bit above re how well I have seen the new 694s perform. cheers

We have the Scorpion ATR's in 245/70R16LT and are extremely pleased with grip in wet, good wear and very quiet. Mainly fully loaded touring and towing with only light off road. Great tyre much better than XPC's.
I agree I have 245/75/16 Maxxis Bravo 751 in an LT on our 99 TD5. Great tyres, good price.
I have yokahama geolanders a/t s.....and Im pretty happy with them. To be honest, better than expected.
