If you are towing make sure its a true LT as marked for the ATR's...otherwise go Maxxis Bravo 751 LT...bloody brilliant. I have had LT in both and passenger in the Pirelli.

Well after fitting the Scorpion ATR LT the result is as advertised by other users.

Have recently done sydney Brisbane alice springs sydney, loaded up and towing a camper trailer.

Faultless tyre performance on all surfaces and not a mark anywhere from the rough stuff.

A small amount of semi serious off road accessing the palm valley near Alice proved their grip in the sand crossing a FLOWING Finke river and suppleness while rock stepping.

Very happy customer, now all that remains is to see how they wear.

    Cheers

Good stuff mate. Thanks for posting your early observations of them. Please post back down the track - say at 50,000k on them.

    Cheers

I haven't read the article but apparently the Scorpion ATR's came out top of the 36 tyres in an AT test published in the July 2011 issue of 4wd Action.

This is posted up on the Action Tyre blog, posting here for future reference:

The 4x4 Action Magazine had the following to say about the Pirelli Scorpion ATR "The Pirelli Scorpions were one of the most sure-footed tyres on the high-speed gravel swerve and hill climb legs of the test. The level of grip from the Scorpions allowed the Patrol to practically walk up the loose hill climb with very minimal wheel spin. Their traction on the downhill section of our test allowed us to bring the Patrol to a snail's pace whereas others simply slid down without grip".

As usual 4WDAction's BS-factor "36 tyres" is actually a 9 tyre test. So not a particularly comprehensive round up of the available options. It would have been interesting to see how the Michelin Latitude Cross and Conti Cross Contact AT fared.
