Easy to say in hindsight. He did pass a depth indicator at the start of the crossing that said 0.6m. Perhaps if the indicator was accurate (possibly 1 metre +) then he might not have continued.

That was taken on the Wyong straight, old Pacific Hwy during the Newcastle flood 4? years ago.
