    won't unlock Urgent help please

    Hi All

Got up early today to get a good start on the days work, I go out and my disco wont unlock.

Remote battery only 2 weeks old Car battery only 3 weeks old a the biggest Calcium one I could fit in.

Red LED slow flashing on the dash. led on remote flashes bright when pressed.

Is there a way around the alarm if I open it with a key?

    I NEED MY CAR BACK

    Cheers

    Matt

Just open up with the key and turn it on ... the alarm will stop and you'll be on your way.
Did it with mine a few weeks ago.

    Cheers

Bummer mate. Your key fob might have lost it's signal to the car and might need reprogramming??

You'll need to get the EKA code from land rover to over-ride the alarm and immobiliser. It's a sequence of key turns in the drivers door. Eg, 4 turns right, 6 left, 8 right, 4 left.

Hope you work it out soon.

There is the EKA (Emergency key Access) - a 4 digit number where you enter the first number by turning the key anit-clockwise for the number indicated, then clockwise for the secend number, anti-clockwise for the third, then clockwise for the fourth.

UNfortunately you need to know the numbers (code) to do it though.

Other than that or trying another fob then use the key and the alarm will go off and then all you can do is try to turn it off with the fob.

Personally I have never opened it with the key, left the alarm on and then tried to start the vehicle, so I don't know what happens with that.

Sorry I can't offer more advice.

Thanks guys. I'll call the dealer.

when I did the battery the - lead was to short so I used new short lead and terminal from the first bolt onto the body to the terminal on the battery. has not been an isure but do you think this might have caused this problem?

Can anyone tell me how long the negative is and after that spot on the front wheel arch where does it go then?

I might make a new one from scratch.

Thanks again for the quick reply
    cheers

Not sure on the lengths, or if they matter that much. Did you check whether there was charge going to the battery with the engine running, or drain coming off the battery withthe engine off after installing the new battery and lead?

Chances are that you're slowly losing charge somewhere??

Do you have another remote that might be "jammed on"?

I had a curious incident on the weekend, where all of a sudden, I couldnt open the garage, the subaru, or the discovery. I was looking for a nearby flying saucer to blame it on when I noticed that the electric gate remote button was wedged on in the fob. Released it, and the flying saucer went away, all systems normal.

Just tried this, no go. horn just kept going off untill I disconnected the battery.

I tried reconnecting and the horn kept going off.

Once disconnected I these that battery and it gave me 12.54. so that seems full to me.

I will retest once I can reconnect it all.

    EKA code on the way.

    Thanks

Sounds like something more sinister then.

It was only last week ... the car wouldn't unlock, I had to get it going so unlocked it with the key, the alarm went off, I started her up and away we went.

Sorry if I've caused any issues.

    Cheers
