Thread: Bolt

The repair manual (RAVE CD) says to 'Remove 2 bolts securing brake caliper to swivel hub' if you are changing the front discs (rotors). This is the bolt you identify.

I would be asking for one of them from a Land Rover parts outlet or a wrecker. HTH.

Thanks. I will give LR a call tommorow. Any special tool to do this bolt?

Generally a good quality 12 point socket or ring spanner will undo these.

On the d2, you need a 19mm 12 point socket.
Should've been locktited in, use medium strength compound when refitting.

You are lucky that all that happened was a scraping noise. Years ago an old boss of mine lost a caliper bolt out of the front of a VL Calais. The caliper moving warped the rim and the resulting lockup destroyed a tyre. He was lucky to keep the car under control.

Luckily didnt happen to me.
Should I go back to the shop who did the track rod? I think they didnt put loctite on the bolt. Better check the other side of the wheel.

They shouldn't be touching caliper bolts when doing steering tie rods etc. I'd be thinking when you last had disc rotors or an ABS sensor or hub fitted as that is the time the caliper gets removed.
