    I've been quoted:

    $99.97 for the pulley
    $34.96 for the serpentine belt

    $162.15 in total delivered.

Do these prices seem right? Without going back and looking at other similar parts I've seen; Do these prices seem a little high?

    Cheers,
    C

You could probably save $25 to $30 sourcing from UK. But the prices you listed seem fair for an Aussie supplier.

    Hi guys and gals.

Some important information pertaining to those of you that are looking to replace your 80mm idler pulley (part number PQR101150).

I just rang up Land Rover to confirm some part numbers for my serpentine belt and the gent in the spare parts department kindly informed me that Land Rover has produced a new, cheaper pulley to replace the previous one. (previous one retails at $143 + gst).

It was determined by LR that:

"IDLER PULLEY MAY CAUSE PREMATURE BELT WEAR
Engine idler pulley defects have been identified that may result in damage to, and subsequent decreased durability of, the accessory belt."

    The affected vehicle range is:

Range Rover (LP) XA410482 to XA420592
Discovery Series II (LT) XA200253 to XA213335 and XA900000 to XA907212

The part number is PQR101070K and retails from LR at $66.50 + gst. They have a "truckload" in stock and will ship over night.

The only thing I am wary of is that this cheaper pulley may be one of the earlier recalled pulleys that wasn't made of steel. I am getting the LR spare parts chap to double check all of this as my research, and probably all of yours, indicated that PQR101150K is the correct kit which superseded all of the others. I'll let you know ASAP.

    EDIT...

    OK an update.
Kind of a moot post now that I've confirmed everything, but it's still handy to know the difference.

The part number PQR101070 is indeed a cheaper LR built idler pulley, but it's built out of plastic, was a recall item and was replaced with PQR101150, the steel idler pulley.

So, the moral of the story is.... Just because the spare parts man at land rover is kind enough to offer you a cheaper part than the one requested, it doesn't always mean that it's the right one, or that he knows what he's talking about.
For all and sundry that need a new 80mm idler pulley, don't go for PQR101070 if it's offered. Insist on PQR101150.

A minor win lads. I've managed to source a brand new, genuine pulley from an Australian seller on ebay for $66 delivered. Much better than the 144 + gst that these things retail for.

At that price I can afford to get an OEM serpentine belt from LR.

BTW, Karcaft quoted me 190 delivered for a pulley and belt just yesterday. It seems their prices may have gone up sine the last time I received a quote from them.
