    Overseas ECU NNW version

    Hi

Just wondering if you can use a ECU from the states to swap my current MSB ECU.And also does it have to be a manual ecu like for like or is there a difference with an auto one.

    cheers

Apart from the usual issues of "teaching" or "instructing" if you like, the ECU to recognise a number of different vehicle codes (Injectors, security etc) I can't see any reason why not for a TD5 as the only difference is the steering wheel is on the LHS....The ECU's are available here in Oz as well so the code issue would be similar

A V8 may pose problems though due to different (More stringent) emission controls mapped into the ECU for the US market...although not owning a ULP Disco I couldn't state that as fact.
    Cheers

There is a difference betweenthe auto and manual ECU's. Even to the point that there a difference between auto V8 and Auto TD5.

As to the rest, I'm unsure but I'm pretty sure that it might need re-mapping to have the engine management comply with Australian standards. Feel free to correct me if anyone disagrees.

I would be very surprised if you could find an NNN or even a MSB ECU in USA.They didnt get Diesel powered D2s or Defenders.
An Auto ecu will work in a manual,a manual ecu wont work in an auto.
A search will find a list of compatibale ECU part numbers.

Further to this, if you put the auto ECU in the manual(assuming it is for a TD5 which I doubt it will be) expect a lot of fault codes to appear, also you can't get rid of them either.

ECU part Numbers for the TD5

    Auto is NNN500030

    Manual is NNN500020 and NNN500250
