1999 D2 Key fob not working

The receiver for the FOB is located in the center of the roof above the liner. I don't think this is accessible without removing the liner. On some models these are a 2 wire unit with earthing done through the locating screw of the unit and others are 3 wire units.

It is possible that either this unit is faulty or you have a poor earth.

I didn't even realise that an aftermarket system could be piggybacked onto the existing LR system, but what a great idea - It's certainly worth looking into

Your earthing suggestion is certainly worthy of further investigation. According to Rave CD, the receiver in my vehicle is located at the rear of the hood lining. As you've indicated, it will require the removal of the roof lining, so it looks like a weekend task.
