Well - had a frustrating hour or so trying to get the Nanocom to read the 3 amigos fault on Wally's Disco II.
We could read the engine faults (and reset them), but no go with the SLABS area. It kept saying: Unable to initalise the communication withthe ECU.
We tried the trick suggested here to unplug the yellow plug under the glovebox, but that didn't help either.
Since they left the farm, I've done a bit more reading and there seems to be a trick with the ignition switch, but we didn't get to try that :(
This is the 'trick' from another AULRO post:
Hey Ean
I find with the SLABS ECU that I get right thru to the last button push to read the faults, THEN I turn the igintion on (dash lights on), then read faults, and most times it will read OK. Engine on, no work. Ignition off/aux' position ... no work. If it doesn't read first time like this, ignition off, setup to read, ign' ON and read.
Hope that gets you there.
Kev..
Yep, ignition on always :)
We tried it with ignition on, accessories only, engine running. Many times. Many different pressings of the Nanocom buttons
Didn't do the same permutation as suggested by Kev above, and now they are gone, so can't test it.
Found this link on the Nanocom FAQ site, which may be relevant:

Thanks again for putting up with us David. ;)
I reckon we might have pulled the wrong plug though. It sounds as though it should be more on the left side of the footwell.
On a brighter note, clearing the engine ECU faults seems to have done some good. The disco doesn't surge on full throttle any more, and seems to be running smoother. Time will tell if it's just a placebo effect.
Dad's impressed with your unit anyhow, so I reckon I'll be ordering an "evo" before long, to keep him on the road.
Reece.
My firmwear is v2.05.
Will be interested to see the new Evo model, compared to my old one.
If you find the right plug to disconnect, you are welcome to call past again and have another go anytime.
Just a quick update..............
Put the multimeter on the front left sensor wires, and found an intermittent fault. Wire was broken inside, near the wheel. Probably due to constant flexing, or an over enthusiastic apprentice when replacing front pads. Spanner will collect wire if you're not carefull.
Wire repaired, still showing 3 amigos. But would soft reset via ignition.
Put new discs on front, as they were shot. Still showing amigos.
Dad paid the pros, to have the faults cleared, which lasted about 2 minutes, and the Amigos were now on for good. :toilet:
Pulled the shuttle switch bank from ABS. As the unit was carried from the vehicle, there was a loud "click" and one switch sprang back into position.
So, it looks like there must have been a switch jamming / on the way out.
Put in a new set we had purchased, but needed to have the faults cleared.
Made a quick call to Spudboy, and he was gracious enough to let us attempt to use his "Nanocom of Doom" again. :D
This time we were able to connect, and clear faults in the ABS. :)
Just finished a round trip of a couple of hundred kms, and am pleased to say: ALL IS GOOD. [bigsmile]
Thanks again David, for all your patience and hospitality.
Good to hear it's all fixed. You guys are becoming D2 electronics experts!
Cheers
David
