Alternative use for SLS air compressor

[FONT=""][COLOR=""][SIZE=""]I wouldn't say you shouldn't have done the conversion at all I did the same thing and I'm more than happy with my coils.it's an on going saga they will need replaced again,compressor will,also lines possibly and then what happens when there's an electrical fault on top.coils are reliable full stop.and being a discovery I'm sure there's other repairs you can do with the saved dollars[/SIZE][/COLOR][/FONT]

I had a 2"lift with SLS spacers, no problem.

My advice, sell the compressor and with the funds, spend $340 on a portable ARB unit like I did. As well as re-inflating your own tyres its great for pushbikes, beach toys and taking with you when in another vehicle.

I did the coil conversion too. Even after replacing both airbags & compressor, the car "hunted" for height every time i slowed to a stop (at lights). Also, when car was parked and the kids jumped on the rear bumper, it would "vent" all its air and sit on the bump stops until I started the engine and the compressor kicked in. Never found the cause. But now its on coils I have a lot more confidence. I do miss the self levelling though.

I have a D3 suspension compressor mounted in the left-rear guard and a 9lt air tank mounted on the compressor shelf. It's fitted with a 90/125 pressure switch and works a treat.

I too run an sls compressor with a 2.2 gallon airtank and find that there is only enough air to pump 1 x 32" tyre and the compressor does not really keep up.

What's your secret?

That's a good question. I have no problems taking all 4(32") from 20-32psi. Maybe the D3 compressor has a higher flow... maybe?

They are not known for it,,
plenty of slow raising D3 stories around,,
having said that, they must still be better than the sls,,

Hi JimboJones. I got rid of my SLS and did a 2" lift. Very Happy and can't beat the peace of mind. I was dreading the airbags going down on the ECHO Camp back track. Great suggestion for using the empty compressor space for a second battery, not much room under the bonnett.

Now my Disco came with a second battery under the bonnet, back right hand corner (looking into the engine bay from in front of the truck), jsut in front of the ABS system. Looks quite neat. Is there normally something else there? Everyone here seems to say there's no room for a second battery.

It's normally an empty space. I have a dual battery same as you.
