I'm away from home and the Disco at the moment - so which unit is the 5880?

    Hi Urban Panzer,
The radio code should have either 4 or 6 digits, it will not have a number any larger than a 6.
This is because you have to use the radio preset buttons (1-6) to enter the code.

EG: if the code is 3542, then simply push the radio preset buttons in order, again just look at the buttons not the display as it is there to confuse you.
Just push button no. 3, then button no. 5, button no. 4 & button no. 2. the radio should now burst into life & you can now tune the radio to your sations.

    Cheers.

p.s. if it doesnt work, then you either have the wrong code or the buttons have stopped working, common with these head units.
Post/PM the 10 digit serial no. & i can check to see if you have the right code.

Thanks for the replies guys, after a bit more searching I did find how to do it, seems Eurovox went bust and got taken over by Go.

Tried it, now bursts into life............although at first kept spitting CD's with E-04 error , so took it apart, cleaned the lense and now its sweet!!

Yeah def worth a try........it would not read ANY disc, just went hum chum hum chum and spat em out.

Just remove the centre top screw in the back heatsink, then carefully pop the top off,

Then you will see a small circuit board on the left side (looking at buttons), that has 2 screws, remove that and flex it backwards on its wires.

then the CD carriage is helo by 5 screws, 3 on the left and 2 on the right, the forward one on the right is under the retaining clip, so whip that off to.

Then the hole CD carriage can be lifted out, its on a long ribbon so no need to disconnect anything else. get a cotton bud and some cleaning solvent, poke it in from the back and give the lense a wipe, wait for it to dry then try it. You can try a CD with it dismantled to check its any better.

    Good one UP!
While we are looking at this model: mine often will not eject the cd all the way out, and I've got to grab it with my finger nails. Is there a fix for this condition, or should I just put up with it?
    Cheers,

Interesting you should say that.......this one did that a few times and when the carriage was out, I had a little nosy to see why, it seems that behind the "normal" felt dust seal on the front face there is another one in the carriage a little further back, and even pushing the CD through it by hand seems to be quite a force required, so I would suggest it simply is the motors dont have enough "guts" to push it out. I was thinking about what I could "lube" it with, but anything in there will obviously go onto the disc which we dont want.

I may well pull it apart again and have another look, and maybe even remove the secondary item.

    I'll keep you posted.
