    Battery light flickering.

I was driving home this evening and I noticed that the battery warning light flickered 4 or 5 times on the 40 minute drive. It only stayed on for a second or less each time and tended to occur when stopped at traffic lights.

    Alternator issue???

    How old is the battery?
Using a multimeter, (jaycar $6-10) with the engine running, the voltage across the battery posts should be between 14.1-14.4v.
Above or below this would point to the alternator.
With engine off check the battery again, should be at or above 12v, below 11v is not a good sign and a pointer to battery.
    Check the belt too.

If it's only doing it when you're stopped at the lights, check your fan belt. Common for a worn belt to slip when engine is at low revs.

But the above advice on using a multimeter is always good in any case. I check the voltage on mine regularly, both with the engine stopped and running at idle.
    Cheers .........

When the same was happening on my Hilux work ute, it ended up being shot bearings in the alternator. Needed a new alternator. Was also very sporadic in the beginning.

I would be looking at the brushes. Mine did the same thing and thats all it was less the $10.00 and a bit of solder. I am not an auto elec and i did it easely. My mate paid $400.00 plus fitting. And The other $200,000.00 for 4 years of navy training

Check it all with a multimeter like mentioned earlier, I would think it would be the brushes in your alternator.

Thanks for all that advice, only had my D2 V8 for 3 days so a bit fresh to all this. I've still got it under the dealer's warranty so I'll get them to check all the below and hopefully sort it.

    Cheers.
