Just servicing the brakes on my d2a- one front left caliper piston has seized! I did have a run in with some salt water a while ago. Looks ok, the other piston is a bit stiff but moving freely, but this one isn't. I have it soaking in wd40 at present. If I can get it moving at all i'll syringe some grease in under the rubber boot and work it in- is this ok, or should I do something else? Can this part of the brake setup be replaced on its own? Or just the piston? Thanks for any advice...

Best bet is to pop the pistons out, clean the cavity and reassemble with brake assembly lube or brake fluid. If the pistons are very stiff leave the caliper connected to the hydraulic hose, and carefully pump the brakes to shift the piston most of the way out. Then air pressure (and wear goggles). The seals will need to be in good condition or get some rebuild kits first.
ok my mistake... it's not the pistons that are seized, it's the "guide pins" that are part of the carrier assembly- one on the front left carrier and both on the rear right carrier. I am a first time brake diy'er so apolgies for the confusion. As far as I can see these guide pins don't have any connection with brake fluid/seals etc, I pulled one out and it just seems to have some grease and a rubber boot. I guess I'll try to tap/pull/twist them out after a good soak in diesel and see if they budge- otherwise it's new carrier assy's and a few more $ sacrificed to the fishing gods who tempted me through that *&%$$$ saltmarsh!
A bit of heat will sometimes free a siezed pin, worked for me.

What ever you do, do not and I mean DO NOT get brit part calliper kits. they were the only one I could get in a hurry and we ended up going through 8 packs to get a set of seals that come close to being the same thickness, there was upto 1.5mm difference between the smallest and the largest seals.
got for genuine if you can get them without going to a dealer. let me know if you need some kits as I have some genuine ones on Back order as the dodgy Brit Part kits are to tight and are stopping one of my calipers from releasing and wore out my new Green Stuff pads in under 10,000km,
Bendix 4x4 pads now. but still need to rebuild the caliper again.
