A guide for dummies, Discovery Questions

I have just purchased a 99 discovery 2 (the model without the morris marina door handles)
    V8 Automatic
How to tell if I have the low or high compression engine?
I only have a radio cassette what are aftermarket options for a CD player to fit the odd sized hole?
Is any red coloured coolant suitable for top up it necessary?
Pas/Ace fliud appears clear like cooking oil not red or green what may this fluid be? I know what fluid to use
is a hot potatoe like the look of transmax Z ?
Highlights are like dads old kombi any upgrades?
At highway speed I get a wind noise thru the ac wether its on fresh or recirc but does stop the noise when turning off
    the ac. any ideas?
    Thanks

99 model will be low compression.

The head unit slot is a single din opening. any aftermarket single din head unit will fit in there ith no poroblem. I've just done this to mine.

Ensure you use OAT coolant if you're running with the red stuff. A full flush might be worthwhile.

Pas/Ace fliud appears clear like cooking oil not red or green what may this fluid be?
It's probably clean fluid. Again, a flush might be worthwhile if you're unsure of the current contents.

Penrite seems to be the way to go.

    What? Kombi?

You're driving a 2.5 tonne brick. Wind noise is par for the course.

Research is the key here mate!

The compression I found is often stamped on passenger side of block near the bottom.
Have you checked under seat for CD stacker?

Kombi's have upgrades for their head lights too, I know since I had several.
Spend as much or as little such as better globes or HID inserts.

Seeing you asked so nicely, I leave it at that.

    Thanks anyway

I asked these questions as no amount of research on this site or others seem to cover these queries.

The wind noise is like a window open but only when the climate control is on, its like a air door flap opens, thought is may be a commom prob.

An audio single din opening is 50mm, this gap is 80mm.

A kombi is a VW micro bus from the 60's with really dim headlights.

No CD stacker under the seat mate just a cubby hole for ?

Head unit is definately single din, original is 1.5 din but single din fits and looks fine, just doesn't take contour of dash. I believe blaupunkt head units will match straight up with no adaptors, I myself run a JVC dvd/usb head unit.
    Cheers Matt
