I use a tongue from a AU/EA falcon alloy tray ute. Reason being is it has the rating and it's quite long, long enough to pass beyond the bar on the D2, also without the massive drop. From wreckers for $50-.
Do love the alloy stuff though.

You need to keep the tongue as SHORT as physically possible,,,,
The d2 hitch is already 8" further behind the back axle than the D1,,
Why not just leave it off, if you don't use it often.
Mine lives in the shed. I have a nice LR plastic insert in its place.:cool:
They reduce your departure angle anyway.;)
Yep, I have one of those inserts, and only a week B4 considered...why not stick the insert in and put the tongue away...but... should have, would have, could have, didn't...:(
