I use a tongue from a AU/EA falcon alloy tray ute. Reason being is it has the rating and it's quite long, long enough to pass beyond the bar on the D2, also without the massive drop. From wreckers for $50-.

Do love the alloy stuff though.

Thanks for all the info and replies.
I'm onto a wrecker in Perth, and will chase down some aftermarkets tomorrow.
    Thanks

what on earth could you tow with that?? is there a D2 "accessory" trailer that has 12" wheels?? Or did the factory expect lots of customers to raise their D2 by 4" and then buy a genuine tongue??
Likewise although my purchase wasn't Silver.

You need to keep the tongue as SHORT as physically possible,,,,
The d2 hitch is already 8" further behind the back axle than the D1,,

Why not just leave it off, if you don't use it often.
Mine lives in the shed. I have a nice LR plastic insert in its place.

Yep, I have one of those inserts, and only a week B4 considered...why not stick the insert in and put the tongue away...but... should have, would have, could have, didn't...

Ring Parkside Towbars in Welshpool. New insert 50mm drop with a 50mm ball for about $80 IIRC.
