$12000 Seems very high. I would expect to pay that for one with 170 to 200,000 kms. If you have a good look there are a few for sale for that money with 100,000 kms less.
Either way good luck with the purchase
    Cheers. Michael.

I have a 1999 D2 TD5 335000 km's. Two owners before me. Woolongong council, and a pedantic Englishman. All invoices from work done by the 2nd owner presented. Have had issues with hoses, oil in the harness, crank angle sensor , no engine issues, 35,000 km's driven since purchased, which includes a Gulf trip. Oh, and there are oil leaks And I make sure I do a weekly check over the vehicle, all over. Doesn't mean I wont have issues in the future. The vehicle is not chipped, or modified. [ And I drive like a granny, I'm in no rush] Am I happy with my D2? Yep! Bob

It has ACE and Auto leveling suspension and drives really well. What problems should I be looking for and is $12k too much to pay?
Accordimg to redbook value a 2001 at 250k km should get about $10.3k. I'd be looking to pay no more than $10k and more like $6k to $8k.

I paid 5k for mine with 325,000km on it with brake light on (abs connection clean up. needed 2 rear hubs $800 to fix. broken manifold bolts and rough interior. I think I paid to much but 7 seater with ace was hard to find so I grabbed it.

It has now done 354,000 and still pulls strong. doesn't blow smoke and with the new shock and brakes it handles well. cant se why i wont get 500km out of it.

I have done lots like all filters shocks and all hoses as a precausion as well as all the above and a full brake rebuild.

If it was a known car that had no oil leaks I would not be put off by that number of km. buying off family makes it a bit hard to bargain. Let it hang around a bit and if you can get it around the 8K i think it is fair value and you have kept it in the family like all good discos should.

    My two bobs

Its hard to gauge a price based on kilometers alone i had a look at many d2s when we were buying from 170k to 255k, all around the same price, and i bought the one with 255 on it, why would i a car with 60k more than another we were lokking at which was $500 less, because the car presented like new, drove like new and outperformed (it is standard) all except one we drove, the only things wrong with the one we bought was handbrake rattle (easy fix) and a broken exhaust stud which i still havnt got around to fixing i paid 14.2 last july for it its a black 01 es and i dont regret it at all the car has been perfect, freinds just bought 02 basic 5 seater with ace for 13grand with 156k and a dp chip, but its orange lol so they vary so much, i would have no problems buying a d2 with 400,000km if it presented well and was well looked after btw i have had 7 land rover/range rovers and im a mechanic not to say i know all, but there is more to buying a car than how ks in the click, id say go for it, offer 10.5 and see how u go

    Hi there,

I bought my D2 V8 (no not TD) and it had 220k's on the clock. Purchase price was 9,999 - which at the time (2008) and after all the research I did seemed like a good price.

Since i've had it serviced my mechanic said it was in pretty good shape considering he had seen later models that were not in so good shape.

I've since done 256K (no I don't drive it that much)... however I am now looking at having the following work done to it:

    Transfer Case Seal
    Head Gaskets
    Exhaust Manifold & Flange Gaskets
    Throttle body bypass
    Valley End Seals
    Water Pump Gasket /pump
    Rear Hub Seal
    New Belt
and a few other minor things....

I'm speaking in V8 terms here, not sure what the general consensus is on K's before the above type things need doing and whether it's the same on a TD flavour.... all the work I am getting done will be setting me back around 2K (by a mechanic), perhaps something to factor in if the above type things haven't been done on your FILs...

Good luck with it all :-D

    Cheers,
    Lp
