In the end everyone has their own opinions on tyres, I myself prefer my Coopers to most BFG's with exception of the KM2's, I have never had or seen any major issues with coopers and that is my first hand experience, other people will state "they have heard" or "my mate". Listen to first hand experience and decide from there but asking about tyres opens up a can of worms.

I've had trouble with cooper AT light trucks and ST on a 2 Different D1 cars, Belt seperation, and vibes, at speed. I also found them ordinary in the wet on tar. I think it's all advertising hype personally, from my experiance, I'd never touch them again. Like I said I end up taking them off my V8 D1.

same but bfg are very good:(

I have driven 4wds with BFG AT's and cooper ATR's and I can tell you the coopers will out handle the BFGs on all surfaces, these tyres were on identical vehicles. The cooper ST's are an agressive AT whereas the BFG KM2's are a mud terrain so it is not possible to directly compare, I am not saying anything bad about the KM2's, from what I have read they are great muddies. Obviously people on this forum have had trouble with coopers, but I have not had any trouble and rate them as a great tyre. If money is no issue and you want muddies then go the KM2's, if you want to save money and stick with muddies then go Bighorns, in terms of AT's, I would highly recommend Cooper ATR's. Also whatever tyre you buy, treat them well and they will last.

I've had a set of Cooper ST 225/75R16 on my RRC and they were really good tyres - great grip everywhere I went and didn't chip much either until I stopped dropping the pressures when off road in the bush around Canberra - just got lazy. Even then they still held up well. I did a few longer trips with lots of tarmac running too and was very happy with their overall performance. No flats either.

When they wore out (55k -ish) I went to the KM2's in the same size just because I liked the look of them. No question, they are brilliant tyres - everything the magazine tests say have come true for me: Quiet on the road, handle well, brake well and are great on the dirt, mud and sand. I find them particularly good on sand, though I do run them at about 10 psi. I find that in the really soft patches of wind-blown sand near the top of the dunes at Stockton, they have a paddle effect and pull through where the more AT style treads spin with no drive. Never had one roll off the rim either despite steering enthusiastically in the soft sand. My brother has had one come off but only after doing circle work on the hard sand with 6psi - but was going everywhere in 2wd in his old Paj.

Only downside is that I think the KM2's do wear pretty quickly though. I'll be happy to get 35k - 40k km out of these tyres but gee they're good.

BFG are first cousins to Mitchies and I've had nothing but good wear and long life out of them.As for Coopers too many bad stories around for me to want to use them plus having to take them back every 10000clicks for inspection etc is off putting.

I have had Cooper ATRs on my D2 for quite a while, and now have them on my Defender. They have been good, I load them up and travel long distances with a heavy trailer, but take it fairly easy off road and have not had a problem. I only changed on the Defender because Michelin stopped making the XCL in my size, but I had great performance form the Michelins.

I've got the S/T 255/70*16 on the D2a. No issues in the last 30,000k of ownership. They've now done 80,000k since fitting. Still plenty of tread depth.

Great offroad. Good onroad. Good on the sand. OK/Average in the wet onroad.

They came with the disco, but I've no reason to not use them again.

Ive got Copper STT's on mine. Simpson desert trip an heaps of low pressure driving in the Brindies around Canberra. Not sure how many K's theyve done but must be 50,000km and still fine.
