TD5 fuel leak and now car won't start! HELP

    hi guys,

i'm just wondering if anyone can help. I noticed a bit of a leak under the car a couple of days ago - thought it was oil and as it was only a few drips let it go. Then this morning after a drive i got under the car and caught a drip - and it's fuel. Anyway now the car won't start.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Steph

Hi, a bit more info may help for a diagnosis.

1 Does the starter turn over, what are the symptoms of 'does not start'
2 Can you hear the fuel pump running
3 Where was the fuel leak

If you have a fuel leak from the high pressure side you may have to cycle the pump 5 or 6 times until pressure builds up (to cycling. turn on the ignition and leave on until the pump stops. then turn off and on again. Repeat this to get rid of the air in the system.

There are other tricks as well

    more info

    Thanks guys for your replies....

The starter is turning over. but not kicking in.

I can hear the fuel pump running but it's making weird noises.

The leak is from under the engine.

    Thanks

Sounds very much like the fuel pressure regulator. I have one in a box on the kitchen table that I'm (hopefully - I'm mechanically inept) going to fit tomorrow. I have read on english forums of the part failing completely but most experience is they leak for some time before this.

Google TD5 Fuel Pressure Regulator and you'll find some useful links on this site and others re costs, how to etc.

    Good luck

    Unhappy

    hi guys,

So we have spent most of the day trying to get to the bloody fuel regulator. It is soooooooo hard to get to the bottom bolt - it has been so frustrating to the point that we have given up.

Disco W.A I am sth of the river - do you (or anyone) know anyone who will do the job for me if I get the part???

    I might

    Thanks

    Steph
