i had thought it was a heat issue at first , as it was a 40 plus day. but the last occurrance was a week back and the temp was shown at 12 degrees. again after starting and running no problems ? also the pump [ original and two replacements ] made the usual noises and such when starting.

I have completed the " Left lean full tank fill injector air bubble test" and this is what I found.
Filled the tank to the top of the filler pipe with the car on approx 30 deg side angle. We started the car. The pump definately reduced in noise. Using a torch we increase the speed from 2000 (10sec), 3000, 4000 and breif spurt up to 4500rpm. We did not see any bubbles until 4000 to 4500 rpm. At this point a large bubble came up and then another and then nothing. I t was as if it had built up and finally made its way to the top. We did this 3 time and each time we only got bubbles when the rpm was taken above 4000 rpm. The bubbles didn't come up as a lot of little ones just large burp!
I have bought the copper washer and o-rings for seal.PLan to change on the week end.
I have an interesting situation. Yesturday a water hose burst from rub and the car temp went up close to the red and the car went into limp mode.
I pulled up and got the car home, filled it with hot water, replaced hose etc and rna the car, all good. The next morning I went to prime the car as I have been doing this last week and the pump made a noise for about 5 sec then went quiet. I thought this was odd. So I turned the car on and it started without hesitation first time. Any way for the rest of the day the car has been starting fine and running smooth. Each time I have gone to prime and found the pump has been quick to go quiet and start first go. It is as if the fact that the motor got hot that it has anealled the copper washers and sealed the injector interface. I will see what happens tommorrow before I decide whether to to change the seals etc on the injectors.
Any thoughts!
That part is bad - if it went into limp mode, there is every chance you wont have done the cylinder head gasket much good I am afraid....Quote:

Once replaced, I ran the fuel pump bleed sequence 3 times (15 cycles) and removed the air in the system then started the car first kick!
It has started perfectly since and has much better acceleration and accelerates longer.
The job to replace seals is 1-2hr job depending on how much of a hurry you are in.
I used a 5/8 allan (long shank) key to pry the injectors up.
The cost for seals was $98 plus my time.

If your pump is screaming it head off (air in the fuel line) it could be that the injector copper washers are due for replacement.
I know it's an "old" topic, but thought I would bung my injector seal write up on the bottom.:)
