I have the Michelins on the xtrail and were noisy for the first few thousand k's, then fine. Good on gravel, not sure about anything else though. Have the D694's lined up for when the BFG's expire on the disco.

just finished touring the plenty highway, around the area of Alice springs, sandover highway palm valley etc then down the ood track on a new set of pirelli ATR's, super quiet on the hardtop and perfect grip and ride on the dirt, corrigations, sand at appropriate reduced pressures. absolutely no damage, not a mark on the tread, sidewalls.
They are better than my previous set of pirelli AT's which were brilliant.
235 fitted at Jax bondi junction= great price!
About six months ago I fitted 16's with a new set of 265x70 Bridgestone D694 LT's to the D2a. Good tyre in the wet, handle well both wet and dry, reasonably quite, LT construction means the ride is a bit rough though if the tyre pressure isnt exactly right. The LT's are good for towing though. I'd say in general a good tyre that does most things well.
Having said that I much prefer BFG A/T's and regret I didn't spend the extra dollars.
I'm now looking at putting the the standard 18's back on with a set of Good Year Silent Armors, so if anyone is interested in a set of 10,000 klm old D694's pm me.
cheers,
Terry
