Nice work Fluids ... good to hear some positive about the D2.
That's the unfortunate thing about these forum sites ... mostly it'd guys wanting advice on how to repair something ... if I was thinking about buying a D2 and saw this website, I'd be wondering if there were any on the road at all!
I too have had my D2 for about 30000kms ... it's the family vehicle, does plenty of towing, on and off -road, drops the kids to school, shopping etc ... never missed a beat with the only exception of a slowly dying battery and factory shocks finally dying after 90000kms.
Cheers
Craig
You are the bravest man I know, [ never heard of Murphy's law? ] My D2 has 336,000 km's on the clock, and going strong! I'm trying for 500,000, thats my goal, hoping to celebrate with a trip to Broome, I think the Disco will outlast me. Bob :D
I couldn't help myself ... :D There are goods ones (to any newbies wondering if they should/shouldn't buy a Td5 D2a). I read the forum for 3-4 months before purchasing and when purchase time came I was a) well informed on what to look for, and b) ****ting myself that it was all gonna go pear shaped from what I'd read on the forum
... I got a good one :)
Yep, the family vehicle that does "everything/anything".
So, the day has ended, and I cleaned inside the ARB fridge, and charged the aux' battery ...
... sigh ;)
Actually we only moved down to Goulburn just over 2 years ago for work.
We still own the family home in Nelson Bay so we know how good it is to live in that part of the world, and we know all about the tourists /terrorists ;) and how the supermarkets / shops put up their prices over christmas because of the many visitors.
Will be up there next weekend for a birthday party at our neighbours, so while we live here we still go back reasonably often.
cheers,
Terry
well since you are having so much trouble with your d2 I think I can assist you with a great range of repairs to be sorted ! It seems that both the recenntltly rebuilt engine and gearbox will need more work , and therefore another bucket of cash. .i nearlrly weep with joy reading about the flawless running of your machine. Hope the luck doesnt run out.
