Question Flashing SLS and offroad raise warning lights?

Over the last few days, the amber self levelling suspension light and the off road suspension height warning light start flashing after our Discovery II V8 fails to start. The engine starts as normal as soon as the 4114 shuttle valve switch failure Electrically Super Vision fault is cleared. What is wrong? How do I fix this fault? LRT

does the car sit low at rear when its not running, sounds a bit like its in transport mode.
transport mode = rear sls deflated partially to allow flatbed towing and when the car is started the sls lights flash and then stay constant. when the engine starts sls will rise but with dash lights and when engine stops, car will slowly drop

Thanks Rosscoe68. No, it sits level and has relatively new air bags fitted. The engine will not fire until the fault is cleared. This fault seems to disable the ignition system. The last few mornings have been very cold. Could condensation be causing a short? LRT

Question Flashing SLS and offroad raise warning lights?

Our Discovery II V8 still has the problem with the SLS & Offroad raise warning lights flashing. The two warning lights flash when turning the ignition key to position three (start). When these lights flash the engine’s ignition system is disabled, but the starter motor is enabled to operate.

When the 4114 shuttle valve switch failure fault code is cleared, the engine still fails to start. However, it will start and and run satisfactorily if I just simply enter the ABS Live Data menu on the Hawkeye Diagnostic tool! As soon as the engine is turned off and allowed to cool down the problem re-appears.

Any one with any clues? LRT

Flashing SLS and offroad raise warning lights?

Many thanks Rosscoe68 for the link to your thread.

I will check the fuses, and clean the contacts and PCB tracks with emery paper and electronic contact cleaner in case there is corrosion. Since bad earth connections are usually the problem with most electrical failures, hopefully cleaning the contacts will solve the problem.

As this problem started after some very damp and cold mornings this may well be the problem.

However, condensation could also be a contributing factor as moisture combined with dust may have shorted out the circuits in the ECU, thus causing a false reading or other type of fault.

interestingly ijust had a similar problem on my 2nd D2.
nanocom showed earth fault to slabs.
took out slabs abd cleaned all the contacts and as i was reassembling i thought i would trace the earth to the body and found it was loose.
retightened and hopefully problem is fixed.
only about 20 mins fix too.

thats hopefuilly both cars sorted for electrical faults now

Many thanks Rosscoe68 for your comments about the SLABS ECU fault. It is a relief to know that my fault may be also a faulty earth. It seems that many electrical and electronic problems arise from faulty connections. Of course, locating them is not necessarily an easy matter, as you well know! Where did you find your faulty earth? LRT

up behind and to the left of the SLABS ecu, you could get to it without removing the ECU, but it wouldn't be easy to see.
sorry i didn't take a piccy. the earth lead had a white tag on it, but i don't remember what it had on it.

Thanks very much Rosscoe68 for the information on the whereabouts of the earth fault. I appreciate your comments about not taking pictures. I also wish I had taken more pictures, especially when having to leave a job and coming back to it a few months later and wondering where each bit goes! LRT
