It's worth having a look at RAVE D2 workshop manual > Fuel Delivery System - Td5 > Description and Operation > Description. This section describes all the engine sensors in a reasonable amount of detail and lists typical symptoms of failure of each sensor.
It seems that if there is a fault that messes with the fuelling system in any way the auto shift points are affected. I've just fixed a warped exhaust manifold and this has improved performance of my TD5 and made shifting a whole lot better. In the event of a MAP/IAT sensor signal failure any of the following symptoms may be observed:
- If the MAP sensor fails manifold pressure is set to a predetermined default value and the engine performance will be reduced.
- If the IAT fails the ECM will set air temperature to a fixed value. The MIL will not illuminate in a MAP/IAT sensor failure and the ECM will use a fixed default value from its memory.
I doubt any remap with improve a situation where you have a faulty sensor.
cheers
Paul
