    Dual Rear wheel carrier

    Hi everyone,

I have seen a disco getting around Adelaide with a dual rear wheel carrier on it, and it looks simply FAT!!!!! I want one! Most place only do a single carrier, but does anyone know where the double carrier can be purchased from and how much?

If it was a dark blue one it is most likely my old 1. A friend and me made it, but it was a close copy of the 1 that 4x4 intelligence make and we just changed the jerry can holder for the 2nd wheel carrier.

I dont think you will get much change from about $2500 unless you are handy with a welder, I think their rear bar without the carriers is $1400.

    Cheers Ean

If it's the one I'm thinking of, a dark green Disco, I bumped into this guy at Dalhousie Springs when we crossed the Simpson Desert, a pommie bloke from memory, his is an ARB rear bar and carriers, Kaymar do this bar now.

Your probably looking at $3000 + fitting, last time I priced one it was $1800 for the bar and $600 for each wheel carrier.

Rovercraft do a rear bar for the D2 AND it's half the price of the Kaymar bar.

OK thats good to know. Yeah i reckon it was deep blue or dark green, I saw it in the review mirror on the end of the northern expressway a couple of months ago and jsut LOVED the look. I will keep watching for piccies. I am not a welder at all, but the father in law can make ANYTHING! Keep those pics coming and any other ideas for who makes them and I will keep saving my $$$$ for one. they make the back end look SOOOOO fat, a little like Angelina JOlie!

have a talk with Oondy at "Big O" 4wd at Parafield. Check his website 1st if you want to see some of his stuff.
He makes lots of gear and has made dual wheel carriers for d2s. His gear is bullet proof. I have him currently modelling a rear bar for me that will incorporate cutting the rear 1/4 panels too and running protection guards under the chopped area.Ii'm not going for dual carriers though as they bug me having to unclip to access the back area. I simply carry my 2nd spare on the roof when I do long extended trips.

Don't want to hijack this thread but has anyone got a response from 4x4 intelligence of late??

Their products look 1st class and I've sent a few emails to their site - which have an auto response but to date...nada - nix - nothing.

BTW....I ordered a Kaymar rear bar with single wheel and double jerry can holder through my local ARB.

Before ordering, we checked with Kaymar whether there would be any hassles fitting the bar along side my long-ranger tank. No problesm was the reply.

However - when time came to fit it....it simply wouldn't bolt up with a Long Ranger in place.

No fault of ARB or Long Ranger but I'm disapointed in Kaymar not having product knowledge of other manufacturers - It would have fitted by modifying the rear mounts but as they were stamped with certification, I didn't want to re-invent the wheel and have another set of modified mounts made and then have them engineered certified. (Bloody thing looked sweet if it would have fitted )

I bought my D3 with the long range tank and Kaymar rear bar and dual wheel carrier already fitted. The only problem I have is that half of the LEDs in one of the brake lights aren't working and you have to completely remove the bar to repair it.
